Online gaming has been a source of entertainment that keeps the people, specifically the teenagers hooked which unfortunately sometimes leads to addiction.
Online game addiction has become a common phenomenon that affects many
individuals and societies on their daily lives. In a survey, it was found out that the amount of time spent by children in playing digital games has dramatically increased; in a study it was proven that 95% of all teenagers from US ages from 13 to 19 years are online gamers.

But what is online gaming? Why a lot of teenagers spend most of their leisure time on it?

An online game is a video game that is usually played through the internet or other computer network available. Digital games have been around since 1990 and have gained popularity in all age groups. Online board games, multiplayer games, strategy games, and sport games are some of the types of online games that is usually being played. But then unfortunately, compulsive internet use for playing digital games has become an issue of different ages.

It was said that improvement in recursive and proactive thinking, increased sociability, and improved interpretive skills are some of the positive effects of playing online. Research shows that the teens who played online were more active and had sharper minds than their other counterparts.

However, excessive playing of online games have been one of the factors that causes harm not only on the productivity state of the people but on theirselves as a whole in life as well. Behavioral and mental changes, lack of other hobbies, poor academic performance, lethargic nature which leads to weight gain, slow brain growth, and negative effects on eyesight which sometimes result insomnia are some of the disadvantages of too much playing games.
